Joseph H. Gilmore was the author of hymns and textbooks on English Literature, Origins of Logic, etc, held a Ph.D. from Brown University. In his early career he was the Pastor of the Baptist Church, Fisherville (now Penacook, NH) and Editor, Concord Daily Monitor 1864-65 (Concord, NH newspaper). Later in his career he removed to Rochester NY and was pastor of the 2nd Baptist Church .
