Some family trees (unsourced) on Ancestry.com say that Jonathan Whipple was born March 5, 1777 in New London, CT, that his wife's name was Fanny Dennis, and that they married Mar 1806. (Aha! I just checked Connecticut Marriages, 1729-1867 on FamilySearch.org, and there is a record of the marriage between Jonathan Whipple and Fanny Dennis in Norwich, New London, CT on 19 Mar 1806.) No parents were given in any of the Ancestry.com entries for Jonathan Whipple (nor in the CT marriage record). If there's any truth to the place of birth, I would suggest Jonathan Whipple {41729} as a possibility. He and siblings were "christened" on 2/23/1789, the day his mother joined the Congregational Church, his father having joined the year before (Whipple note). A note under Jonathan Whipple "Cites pages of a publication entitled "Families of Western New York," originally published as volume 1 of Genealogical and Family History of Western New York: A Record of the Achievements of Her People in the Making of a Commonwealth and the Building of a Nation, by William Richard Cutter (s.l.: s.n., 1911?)." Monroe County is in Western New York, which lends a little more credence to the theory.
