!SOURCE: Email from N. Combs to Weldon Whipple, 13 Dec 2007. Cites "Henry Whipple Skinner's passport application dated Jan. 16, 1915 whereby he applied for a passport at the American Consulate in Geneva, Switzerland, having travelled to Europe for his health using an emergency passport. He states on his application that he was born in Detroit, MI on June 8, 1852 and is retired. Interesting, at the time he applied, he said he had left the U.S. on April 5, 1913, and needed a passport for travel to France, England, and Italy. Seems to me there was a war going on; not the best of times to be wandering around Europe. There are also applications for Henrietta Dana Skinner and Richard Dana Skinner, which confirm the birth dates and locations found by Googling. Henrietta and Henry left the US at the same time and applied for passports on the same date in Geneva, Switzerland."
