(Probably: Death date matches that given by H.E. Whipple, and Ruth's [no maiden name given] death entry is immediately followed by birth entrys for three children of Zilpha, whom Benjamin married after Ruth's death.)

"I hereby certify that Benjamin Whipple of Plainfield in the State of Connecticut, son of Joseph Whipple, and Ruth Brown of Johnston, daughter of Gideon Brown of sd Johnston, were lawfully joined together in marriage this 4th day of May, 1788, per me Samuel Winsor, Elder of Baptist Church of Christ in Johnston, RI, recorded December 10 AD, 1803, by Benjamin Whipple, Town Clk."
