Dr. Abbott graduated from Harvard, class of '81 and had a medical practice in Andover at the time of their marriage at the early age of 28.Y He was the son of Jonathan Abbot b 1828 (called Edward) and Sarah E. Barnard b 1829.Y Edward Abbot Ydied in October of 1855 in a train accident in Melrose Mass prior to Charle's birth. Y After Edward's death, Sarah returned to Ythe home of her parents, Isaac and Eliza Barnard, where Charles was born on 2.23.1856.Y Charles was raised in the Barnard household in Andover.Dr. Abbott was a State Representative (Massachusetts) and a charter member and first president of the Andover Historial Society. Two of Dr. Abbott's homes are listed in the preservation register. Y Much of the information on this couple comes from the historical society files.Y Among their many records of this family are photos of Daniel L. Whipple and his wife. Y(I have seen them, very handsome couple.)
Dr. Abbot and wife Frances are buried West Parish Garden Cem in Andover.
