You maybe interested in Hattie's obituary as you will see it doesn't mention Sherman at all! I think she was married to a very short time to Sherman and perhaps there was even a scandal of some sort. Why would her family not mention him in the obituary? They must have divorced......a scandal.Mrs. Harriet Johnson. 1940.
Mrs. Harriet Johnson, 56, wife of Fritz Johnson of Greenfield, Mass., the former wife of the late Olando Stanton, died suddenly October 21 in the office of the Western Union company in Greenfield. Dr. William J. Pelletier, medical examiner, attributed the death to heart failure.
Born in Fulton, N.Y. on Nov 14 1884, she was the daughter of Jay and Lydian Boyaton Hilts. She had lived in Greenfield four years.
Besides her husband she leaves three children by her first marriage, one daughter, Ruth, and tow sons, Fenton of Cobleskill and Dorwin of Watervliet. Also one grandson, two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Scott of Richmondville and Mrs. Arthur McNeil of West Fulton; four brothers, David, Ira and Gideon of West Fulton and Millard of Oneonta, also several nieces and nephews.
Burial was made in the Brekabeen cemetery.
