!SOURCE: Email from D. Shayne Aldrich (email hidden) to the Whipple Website, 21 Sep 2012: "Edith was born in a log cabin in Garnet Lake New York. Her father Fred ran a lodge on the lake for out of town hunters trappers fishers and vacationers. The lodge still exists, however, the log cabin is no more. Edith was a homemaker and there are many stories of her garden and love of animals. She once had a bees nest in her bed and and she cut a hole in her window so that they could come and go as she didn't want anyone to disturb them!!! She also is known to have birds land on her shoulder while gardening."
