!SOURCE: Find a Grave web site memorial 54970011, cited 9 Nov 2024. "Alfred was 2nd assistant surgeon & commissioned officer in the 15th regiment of Wisconsin volunteers in the Civil war. He mustered in on 4 August 1862 and mustered out on 26 November 1862. He took ill at the battle of Vicksburg & resigned due to chronic camp dysentery. He walked home to Wisconsin. Two days after his arrival home, he died."
