"Please forgive the intrusion, I'm grasping at straws a little. For purposes of a radio interview, I'm trying to track down the disposition, alive or dead, of Lothrop Withington, Jr. , famously the first swallower of goldfish, and allied to the Whipples.If you have any information you could pass on, I'd be so grateful. Bill Richardson, CBC Radio, Vancouver."

!EDUCATION: Harvard freshman and football captain and noted goldfish swallower. After earning an extra $10 for swallowing a goldfish at the Harvard's Freshman Union on 3 Mar 1939, Lothrop remarked, "The scales caught a bit on my throat as it went down." --Swallowing Goldfish , 26 May 2004.
