Last year I published a book on the 17th NY Light Artillery (The Orleans Battery), composed of letters from a dozen men who served 1862-65.Yesterday I found reference to a letter that was for sale in 2001 to "My Dear Friend" from Milton Whipple 7/23/63.Y I would have used a bit of it in the book, if I hadn't misplaced it!Y It was noted as being from a larger collection of his letters, but I haven't seen any since!Anyway - he was J. Milton Whipple born 2/?/1842 Schoharie Co. NY; died 6/22/70; he was a teacher; father Griffin Whipple and mother Louisa Barber. WifeY(10/?/42-5/7/03).Y Both likely died near Medina, NY.Y She received pension for sons Irvine M. and Frank in 1873 as Bertha ElectaYSherwood Whipple Masten.
