I. Upon the application of Capt. Everett E. Whipple, Provost Marshal Brigade R. I. M., to be placed upon the retired list of Commissioned Officers of the Rhode Island Militia, it is hereby ordered:--Capt. Everett E. Whipple, Provost Marshal, Brigade R. I. M., is hereby placed upon the Retired List of Commissioned Officers of the Rhode Island Militia with the rank of Captain, in accordance with Section 18 Chapter 296 of the General Laws, "Of the Militia," and is entitled on State occasions to wear the uniform of the highest rank held by him.

II. Military Record.vJuly 30, 1873, joined Co. B, Westerly Rifles; May 14, 1875, appointed 2d Sergt.; Dec 22, 1879, commissioned 2d Lieut. Co. B, 3d Batt'n Inf., R. I. M.; June 9, 1882, commissioned 2d Lieut, Co. E, 1st Batt'n Inf., R. I. M.; June 9, 1885, commissioned 1st Lieut, Co. E, 1st Batt'n Inf., R. I. M.; Oct. 19, 1886, commissioned Captain Co. E, 1st Batt'n Inf., R. I. M.; Oct. 19, 1889, commissioned Captain Co. E, 1st Regt. Inf., R. I. M., and so borne until Dec. 13, 1890. Placed upon the Retired List by General Orders No. 4, A. G. O., Feb. 27, 1892. May 18, 1892, returned to active service as Captain and Provost Marshal, Brigade R. I. M., and served as such until June 22, 1900; on leave of absence as Captain in 1st R. I. U. S. Vol. Inf., from May 13, 1898, to Sept. 9, 1898.
