Interestingly, in 1818 there is also a tax recorded for a Dr. Robert Whipple who is taxed only for one horse. This appears on the same page as the other Robert but is taxed as two individuals. Nothing to prove Robert to be the son of nor related to the Dr. Whipple, however, there are no other Whipples found in Sanbornton in the time period Robert is there. The Doctor Whipple appears on the tax list the following year, 1819, and then disappears. There is no reference to a Doctor Whipple in the Sanbornton town history so he was either retired or not practicing for any length of time in that town.
Note: These records end with year 1824.
Note: What is now Lakeport, was prior part of Laconia, and in 1855t was part of Gilford. The earlier name of Lakeport was Lake Village. In 1855 Laconia, north of Pleasant Street was Meredith Bridge, and was later part of Laconia. In 1874 Gilford was dis-annexed and re-annexed to Laconia in 1876. Lake Village was dis-annexed from Laconia and re-annexed to Gilford.
In 1850, Robert is 65, (which puts his DOB at 1784/85), has no occupation, Catherine is 59 ).
