Cites Deposition of John Hoover, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, 2 Aug 1860, posted to email hidden and copied in full in Barry's email. The deposition indicates that Daniel Sims married Catharine Hidder in the fall of 1808 and "lived together as lawful man and wife in the Township of Newport in the said County of Luzerne for about six years." Daniel (a "near neighbor") went to war in 1814 and died in the service of the United States. (Neighbors indicate that Daniel died of dysentery.) Catharine subsequently married Nathan Whipple (deceased), "whom she married about six or eight years after the said Sims departure."
