!MILITARY: "Joined the Navy in March of 1940. ... While in the Navy, Mr. Voegtlin served aboard several vessels; the USS Piper SS-409, the USS Cubera SS-347, the USS Angler SS-240, the USS Odax SS-484, and served on the Mighty Mine Dodger in the Sea of Japan. Commendation medals he was awarded during his naval career were; Good Conduct, Occupation Service Medal (Europe), Defense Service Medal, and Submarine Combat Pin. He retired from the service in September 1961." --Obituary
