Hannah Emerson was 70 yrs. old {b. abt 1747} when she and Levi Tower {11181} (age 74) were married. Source is Arnold's VRs 15:395 Providence Gazette Marriages. I wonder if she isn't Hannah Whipple {25099} who was born 17 Mar 1747 in Cumberland, RI. If so, then she and Mary Whipple {25098}, Levi Tower's first wife, were sisters--not so uncommon. Dates for Hannah's husband Ensign William Emerson {25105} are b. abt 1734 d. 11 NOV 1813 bur. Emerson Cemetery (Mt. Calamet), Cumberland, RI (now lost).

!SOURCE: Email from Tom Crowley (email hidden) to the Whipple Website, 10 Aug 2012. Tom notes that William's grave is not lost:

It is about 1 to 2 miles from Diamond hill rd, in the middle of the woods. It is a nicely engraved stone and seems to have weathered the last 197 years well. There appears to be an unmarked grave right next to it. There is a SAR marker with the stone.

Oddly enough, there is a State of RI historical cemetery sign #36. On the RI historical cemetery website #36 is on Broad St. and Emerson cemetery is listed as #500.

Behold and see as you pass by
As you are now so once was I.
As I am now so you must be
Prepare to die and follow me.
