I have the military records on Wm Russell Stark - he did enlist 24 June 1898, at Camp Haven in Niantic, CT. He musterred in 2 July 1898 and was discharged 30 Jan 1899 at Camp Meyers, VA (formerly Camp Whipple) isn't that ironic? Honorable discharge. He did receive a pension, but when he was admitted to Northampton State Hospital (called at that time Northampton Lunatic Hospital) in Massachusetts, my grandmother applied for and received conservator status and his pension until he was released.

He also registered for the draft of WW1, but was never called to serve.
