Iuve recovered an old photograph of Mabel T. WHIPPLE which was taken at the Hussey Studio in Salem, MA. The photograph is dated 1897 and indicates that it is likely a high school graduation photograph with the designation "S. H. S. '97" written along with her name on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mabel and her family:Mabel Terry WHIPPLE was b. Jan 1879 in Salem, MA to parents Sidney WHIPPLE (1855-1935) and Frances Ellen YOUNG (1860-1896) who were married on 19 Oct 1881 in Salem, MA. Mabel was one of 7 children born to this couple including Mabel F.; Florence May; John Whitmore; Walter Sidney; Frank Sanborn; Baby; and Frances Ellen WHIPPLE, all born between 1879 and 1896. Mabel married James Winchell CRAWFORD on 11 Nov 1902 in Portland, ME and they had four children including Mary Whitmore CRAWFORD (1904-1996) and Virginia Winchell CRAWFORD (1911-2009) and two other girls. Mabel died Nov 1968 in Sarasota, FL.
!PARENTS: In the 1900 Census, Mabel F., is listed after the other children of Sidney, who is listed as a widower. It is possible that Mabel's mother was a previous wife of Sidney? The marriage record of Sidney and Frances on 19 Oct 1881 indicates that it was the first marriage for each of them. Thus, Mabel is listed as a daughter of Sidney based solely on Mabel's appearence as a daughter of Sidney in the 1900 census.
