!SOURCE: Email from R. Gilebarto to the Whipple Website, 20 Nov 1999, citing the 1850 Federal Census taken 26 Sep, Jackson Twp, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. Indicates that Dimmis was born 1791. Adds middle name.
!SOURCE: "Descendants of Dimmis Whipple," email from Don Frerk to the Whipple Website, 14 Aug 2004. Gives birth 18 Oct 1792 in Brattleboro, VT, death in 1871, marriage in 1811 in Brattleboro, VT. Don writes the following:
It appears that my third great grandmother is Dimmis Whipple, daughter of William and Sophia Whipple. I am attaching a family register of Sylvester and Dimmis Esterbrooks that was copied from the family bible. Two of her sons were named after her brothers, and one daughter was named after her sister. Approximately a year ago I ran across a web site [http://www.dsdata.comau/cgi-bin/fgs_scr.cgi?2151] which shows Sylvester and Dimmis and children.I found the 1850 census records for Pennsylvania living in Susquehanna county, Jackson township household 10. Dimmis's name was actually listed as Demmis Prowty which we have been looking for ever since.
In researching your site I found that Demmis Prowty was actually Dimmis Prouty Whipple.
!SOURCE: Email from R. Gilebarto to Weldon Whipple, 17 Aug 2004. Notes that the 1959 census does not list Dimmis as Dimmis Prowty. "This is exactly how it appears":
1850 (26 Sept), Jackson, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania p 250 line 8, house 10, family 10
"Easterbrooks, Sylvester, 60 VT, farmer [* Note the spelling]
Dimmis, 58, VT
Henry, 25 VT, farmer
Elizabeth, 30 VT
Harriet, 19 VT
Warren, 17 VT, farmer
Theodore, 12 VT
Hale, 25 VT, carpenter
Lucy, 25 PA
Russell, Charles J., 12 VT
Cole, George (?), 25 VT, farmer
!BIRTH: With brother William being born 17 Jan 1793, Dimmis could not have been born Oct 1792. --R. Gilebarto, 17 Aug 2004.

It has been awhile since we had our discussion relative to subjects birthdate being Oct. 18, 1790 versus 1792. I would like for you to consider these four sources for being the 1792 date, and consider changing your date.
- Our family bible showing Oct. 18, 1792.
- The 1850 census gives her age as 58, which you have looked at.
- The 1860 census, which I have found, listing her age as 68 living with her son Warren.

Age: 27, Male, Race: WHITE, Born: VT

(1870 U.S. Census)
PENNSYLVANIA , SUSQUEHANNA, JACKSON TWP
Series: M593 Roll: 1455 Page: 376 image 27I believe the above 4 sources confirm her birth year is 1792 and believe your records should be changed accordingly.
