Gives name Helen Ober: "Neither of the histories [searched by the submitter] indicate John had a wife or child although there are other unofficial records of a child born to him and Helen Ober 1861. They could very well have been married and left off the histories. I have not found a pension record for the wife and the child died as an infant, perhaps prior to enlistment. No further record as to when Helen died."
