Notes

Rev. Henry Allyn had (reportedly) five children, including a son, John Henry Allyn. In a biographical sketch taken from "Biography & Historical Record of Ringgold County, Iowa" (Lewis Publishing Company of Chicago, 1887, p. 320), John's family history includes the following on his father:

"At the age of sixteen years he accompanied his mother, a widow, to Ringgold County, Iowa."

As John Henry was born 7 Sep 1849, he would have been sixteen in 1865 and his father would have passed away some time before then.
