William Fellows was first of the name to appear on American soil, arrived Ipswich early in 1639 from southern Leicestershire, England. He was accompanied by his wife Mary Ayers and his son Isaac then about 4 years old. He purchased a 6 acre piece of land for 20 pounds and was made freeman of the Colony 1654 and d 1676 leaving his wife and eight children. Isaac was his oldest son and Sarah was his youngest daughter. Isaac's son Jonathan and Sarah's daughter Sarah became parents of Sarah Fellows who m Samuel Knowlton. --Cites NEHG Register 1932
