Francis Friend-Pereira became an academic eventually rising to become the pricipal of Presidency College in Calcutta but to save me typing a great deal he can be found on Wikopedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F.J.Friend-Pereira]. He died on 25/05/1958 in Ranchi, India, after which his widow and her family, including my future wife, came to live in England, something colonials were able to do at that time without undue formality.
