I think I might have found another son of Bela Chase last night via the seekingMichigan web site. I found a death certificate for a Charles E. Chase, born Jan 20, 1834, died Aug. 20 1904. His father is given as Bealey Chase and the mother is given as tgiven name unknown Whipple.' The certificate is from Kent County, Sparta township, marital status divorced, father of 4 children, 3 living. Bealey could be a misguided idea of Bela? The coincidence of Alpine location and a B Chase father with a Whipple mother lends credence, but I don't know. Alpine Township, Kent County, is where Bela was and his daughter my gg grandmother Lydia O. Chase and her brother Able and sister Permelia etc.It says his father was born in England which isn't right but sometimes informants don't know. (My dad thought his gg grandfather Chambers was born in Scotland and I'm finding out out that he wasn't. ) The original Chase in America was from England.
