The Genealogist, Vol. 20, No. 2 (Fall 2006), p. 207-208. The author
notes the following:- "Samuel Whipple paid 2s. 8d. in lay
subsidies in Stortford in Jan. 1601/2, April 1602, and April 1604. Widow
Whipple paid the same sum in 1607."
- "The will of Samuel Whipley,
citizen and merchant taylor of London, dated 15 Feb 1605/6, proved 13 Aug.
1606, identifies son John and daughter Joan, both underage. Wife Margery was
made sole executrix. 'Loving friends' Hugh Hill, Pewterer, and Robert Brown,
Draper, Cittizens of London, were appointed overseers; the witnesses were
Thomas Archer, Scrivner, George Robsond, and Robert Browne."
