James's family, his mother and his brother Rodney's family are all buried there. You can see James's burial here and click through the links: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin /fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=whipple&GSmid=47274612&GRid=117708033&
He does seem to be the same person as your James L. He appears in the 1860 and 1870 censuses of Chicago. In 1872, he moved to Oak Park, where he died in 1876."
