[James Rutledge Whipple] married Mrs. Barbara Duquette Buffington, widow of Lt. Ralph Buffington, Oct. 17, 1953 in the chapel of the Little Church Around the Corner in NYC. ... The ceremony, performed by the Rev. Dr. Randolph Ray, was followed by a reception in the home of the bride's aunt, Mrs. Edward W. DeWilton of 430 E 57th St, with whom Barbara lived. ... [James] served in the Army in the Pacific theater during WWII and was an alumnus of Swarthmore College. He was a techincal editor for Fawcett Publications at the time of the wedding.
