Huckins to Weldon Whipple, 17 Nov 2015: "Chauncey and wife Mary show up in the 1850 census in Summit, Northampton, Ohio census with twin sons Elijah and Elisha age 15 born in Ohio. ... According to a 1879 newspaper article in the Staunton Spectator, the twin, YElisha Whipple was shot and killed by a neighbor Jan 27, 1879, over the loss of affections of the neighbor's wife and from whom he had been divorced a few months prior. Y His killer turned himself in and Ywas sentenced to hard labor for life.Y His ex-wife Mrs. Dunn had been a nurse to Elisha's mother. Elisha was 44 yrs old at death, Yunmarried, Y and was buried with his parents. Y There is also an account of this altercation resulting in his death in the book Fifty Years and Over of Akron and Summit Counties (Lane) which notes Elisha resided on a large farm with his parents Mrs. and Mrs. Chauncy Whipple."
