Notes

• Lawrence was living next to his father in the 1820 census of Lyons, Jefferson, New York with 3m, under 10; 1m 16-26; 2m 26-45; 2f, 26-45. It seems he may have had a brother or sister with their spouse living with him.
• In 1834 Lawrence was living in Pennsylvania. It would be interesting to know if Lawrence had anything to do with his sister, Clotilda Powell, moving down into Pennsylvania.
• By 1840, Lawrence had moved to Nottaway, St. Joseph, Michigan, and since a David Salisbury appeared there the same year, the brothers must have gone to that area together.
• Lawrence was found in Mendon, St. Joseph, Michigan in 1850 where the census record said he was born in 1790 in Rhode Island. He had a wife, Orpha (60), from Massachusetts, a son, John (36 born NY), and a son, Orin (26 born NY). Orin was probably short for Orange, which was shown on other records. On the same page was enumerated a Wheelock M. Salisbury (31 born NY) with a family and a Russell Salisbury (34) NY with a family. It appears that makes up four of the five sons of Lawrence shown in census records along with a daughter. The son named Wheelock makes Orpha's maiden name probable to be Wheelock. This may be a lead that perhaps Orpha and Lawrence's sister's husband (Betsy Salisbury Wheelock) were from the same family.

Orpha {107266} d. after 6/1860 when she was enumerated on the 1860 Census, Dakota, Waushara, WI w/her husband Lawrence Salisbury {107265}. FAG reports his death as occurring in 1860 (no burial place noted).
