Notes
!SOURCE: "Descendants of Sarah F. Whipple," email from N. Combs to Weldon
Whipple, 15 Feb 2007. Cites/notes the following:- Rhode Island Cemeteries
Database Index (birth, death, burial)
- Age: May 17, 1888, 68 yrs. old at
death (Source: Rhode Island Vital Records, (Orem, UT: Ancestry, Inc.,
2000).)
- Census: June 03, 1880, Age 60, widow, father b. VT, mother b. MA,
living Providence, Providence, RI w/son Oscar F. 32 (book keeper) (Source: 1880
Census, Providence, Providence, RI, 72.)
!SOURCE: Email from N. Combs to Weldon Whipple, 5 May 2010. Notes the
following:
- [The Rhode Island Cemetery] database gives Sarah's {107457}
DOB as 3/1/1820 (but doesn't list a maiden name) and Simri Smith's {107456} DOB
as September 01, 1819.
- On the 1860 census Simri and Sarah Smith have a
13-year-old daughter named Isabel (and no Sarah listed). Sarah/Isabel would
not be 14 until after the official census date of June 1. The 1850 census is
clear that it is Sarah A. J. Smith and not "I."
- [A remaining] "problem"
[is] whether Sarah F. Whipple is Sarah Fuller Whipple or Sarah Fuller who first
married a Whipple. It wouldn't be hard for someone to assume that Fuller was
her maiden name as she uses Sarah F. in the census records.

!SOURCE: Email from Patrick Harrison (email hidden) to
Weldon Whipple, 5 May 2010. Notes the following:
- "I recently found on
Ancestry.com a record verifying the marriage of Simri Smith to Sarah Fuller
Whipple on 28 Sep 1845 in Rhode Island by a Rev. William S Balch. New York,
Marriage Newspaper Extract, 1801-1880 (Barber Collection)."
- "As for Sarah
Fuller Whipple, I was thinking the same thing: Did she marry more than 1 time,
and her maiden name is really Fuller. Sarah Fuller searches did not bring
anything obvious, but I did notice the name Fuller in a document relating to
Simri Smith: in the Proceedings of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templars and
the Appendant Orders of Massachusetts and Rhode Island for the year ending
October 28, 1874, there are Fullers listedin the list of Commanders: Stephen B.
Fuller, and James B Fuller, and also listed as a Knight John Smith
Fuller."
